Roma....

As an added, unexpected extra last Summer we were able to fit in a day in our beloved Rome before flying home from Italy. We left Tuscany as early as we could and travelled to Rome. We found a great parking space a short walk from where we wanted to be, just over the river from the Piazza Narvona. I didn't think that would happen in a capital city on a Saturday but it did. Once again, getting out of an air-conditioned car into the heat was not easy! We had lunch in the Piazza then walked to the Pantheon, the Trevi Fountain area which was more full of people than I have ever seen, in fact the whole city was busier than when I have gone before in May or April. We managed to see the places we wanted to and buy a few more souvenirs, just how much Audrey Hepburn stuff can Xenia get into her room?. We passed the Spanish steps at a distance but had to head back to the car and get out of the city to the airport for our evening flight home. The traffic was good and we made it easily, so squeezed in that extra treat of a day in Rome without any problem with traffic or parking. Longing to go again one day, so I threw a coin into the Trevi Fountain to make sure that that happens, it has worked every time so far!
