Nathan and Teri's wedding

The happy couple at the end of the day
Nathan and Teri

I am recovered enough now to blog about the beautiful wedding of my eldest son and daughter in law on Saturday 25th June. It was such a lovely wedding, full of family and friends and so enjoyable. The only disaster was that in my haste to leave in the morning my hat got left in its box in our hall. Luckily that didn't affect the wedding at all so the day went well. The weather was dry but windy and a bit cold first thing so the bridesmaids are a bit goose-pimply in the morning photo's. By the afternoon in London the weather was hot and sunny and we had trouble opening our eyes in the photo's and are feeling a little bit sweaty by then. What a contrast! These are just a few snaps mostly taken by my daughter until the official ones arrive.

Craft Club

Had a Craft Club meeting and lunch with the girls on Friday morning at our house. We try to get together about once a month and mostly do our own projects but sometimes we have a theme and all do the same thing. Mostly its a chance to get together and sort out the world!!!! Next time I'll remember to photograph the actual projects.

A lovely Saturday

We spent a lovely day Saturday at the London Temple with my son and almost daughter-in-law (only two weeks until their wedding) The weather held out for some photo's and it was lovely spending some time with Nathan, Teri and my oldest daughter Natasha. I also met a lot of old friends who I do not regularly see and some I have not seen since Colchester days (1985) as often happens on Temple trips.

Vintage Markets and Shops

I had thought it was going to be beach weather today, it was warm but quite windy so as a contact lens wearer I find that wind, sand and contact lenses really don't mix and we decided to skip the beach, still go to Boscombe but to go the monthly Vintage Market and then to some of the Vintage and second hand shops in town. The Market at Boscombe Crescent was a little bit pricey but there were some beautiful, inspiring things. It's a little bit worrying to see what passes for vintage, retro and antique these days. My mother in laws house was full of some of this stuff and even my mother who loved new things in the 70's then never got rid of them as they were still in good order had some of this stuff. Next time we go to my Dad's I think we will be making our way into his attic for a nose about, it could end up being a lot cheaper than another vintage hunt, however it was such a fun day I'm sure we will be back to Boscombe in the near future. At one of the shops on the road out to Christchurch I found a lovely dinner bell engraved with 'Captain's Table' so I will never have to shout "Dinner" up the stairs again as long as everyone remembers what the ringing bell means I think they will hear me over the i-pods.

I love my new, old brass bell though.

Travelling home via Nailsworth

After a visit with my Dad and family on Thursday we came home one of the many scenic routes through the Cotswolds via Nailsworth and stopped off for a quick visit. Unfortunately it was quite late and shops were shut or shutting but we still managed to get in to a few places and will definitely visit again earlier in the day.

I fell in love with this shop, if I had a lifestyle shop it would be like this one.

I now own the cake stand so its not there any more, I ruined their display

Visit to Gloucester

Its half term this week so on Thursday Chris took the day off and we went to visit my father in Gloucester.  We had a tour of his garden where everything is growing well so far, he almost always plays us a few tunes on his mandolin, it's virtually the law that he does. We stayed for a while then squeezed in a quick visit to my brother and sister in law and their family. The weather was beautiful and we were able to spend the afternoon in their lovely garden as well.
